Sequoia High School Mentor Program
I was a mentor for high school juniors at Sequoia High School's Digital Arts Academy program from 2010-2016 and just joined the program again in 2024.
Noelany Vides: When I met Noelany in 2013, I learned she was a leukemia survivor. Given I lost my best friend in high school Joanna and my dad to forms of leukemia, we developed a special bond. While the formal mentor program ended in May 2014, we've continued to meet regularly. In May 2015, friends and family contributed $2400 to help Noelany attend Canada Community College followed by Cal State Hayward where she graduated in 2021 with a degree in psychology.
Brenda Munoz: I met Brenda in 2015 and we worked together for two years. When she graduated from Sequoia, she went to community college before transition to San Francisco State in 2019 to pursue a degree in Interior Design. Friends & family contributed ~$2000 to support Brenda to complete her degree which she did in 2023. Brenda's Thank you video. It was an honor to attend Brenda's wedding in November 2024.
